One camera, one microphone and flip flops.
That’s all I armed myself with for the Shitty/Awesome record release concert in the summer of 2011. I should have brought a rain jacket to help with the flying booze and some protective glasses to shield the fireworks. I can safely saw the Norman punk band’s concert will go down as one of the rowdiest concerts I’ve ever seen. I was going to shoot one song of the set, but I ended up capturing every bit of the concert.
Then before I knew it, I had a movie on my hands. I’ve recently uploaded it to Vimeo in honor of Shitty/Awesome’s last concert this week. Drummer Travis Searle is off to do big things in Louisville with Guestroom Records, and the band has decided to bow out at The Opolis XI Birthday Celebration. If you watch the “The Shittiest Movie Ever Made” for at least five minutes you’ll be able to pick out several pieces of evidence that prove the band was a powerful combination of things both shitty and awesome. The movie was a blast to make and even had a debut at the deadCenter Film Festival.
May the band’s spirit rock in peace.
